The South Asian Webinar in collaboration with the HWPL Peace Education and Public Relations has been held with the theme “Let’s speak with one voice for peace for the next generation”. On 27th Friday night, a discussion meeting was held with journalists, educators and students from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Maldives, India and South Korea through a zoom conference.
HWPL Peace Education and Public Relations is working to spread the culture of peace in 2020. At the same time, HWPL is working to create a bright peaceful day. The event was presided over by Elly Yoon, General Director, Department of Public Relations, Western Busan Branch, HWPL. The keynote address was delivered by Jisu Kim, General Director, Department of Peace Education, Western Busan Branch, HWPL. The event was hosted by Jessica Kim, Coordinator, Public Relations, Western Busan Branch, HWPL.
Richa Suri, a student at Gurukul Academy in Nepal, stressed out the practical example of peace education “Peace is possible for at all stages and it is up to man to choose his destiny or to suffer from the horrors of war. Today mankind is at the crossroad where he has to choose with courage, determination and imagination. In my opinion peace education is the process of imparting, knowledge, values, skills and attitudes necessary for enhancing peace. It also involves a conflict sensitive approach to the development of education plans, policies, structures and systems.”
Also, “As a student I know education is a lifelong process and we gain different education and skills from different educational sectors. We learn about science, math, history, geography, etc. From which our intelligence can be changed but not the behavior. We have been lucky to be part of HWPL Peace Education. Through the activities and the different lessons by Our school’s peace integrated curriculum, we have lively experienced how peace is nurtured in our soul with great humanity and golden deeds.”
In this pandemic, Many students can be deprived from access of education and other basic needs. she said “Peace education can be a bridge to fulfill the gap that pandemic has brought in the process of the development child and youth minds. In this time, we need an easy and doable lessons that would help us to be calm and courageous to face the circumstances.”
In 2020, the HWPL held a UNESCO conference in Paris, France. So far, 10 MOUs have been signed in 10 countries and 214 MOUs in 34 countries. In the coming 2021, HWPL has three main plans for peace. The first is online peace education by implementing the webinar and provide video content. Second, we will cooperate with UNESCO. Finally, we will develop a variety of topics such as university textbooks and e-books, audio books and standard syllabus.
During this time, members of HWPL, journalists, educators and students in Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Maldives, India, South Korea gave a speech and videos were shown.
